Selene and Endymion

Selene, beautiful and bright, travels all night to meet her lover, the shepherd Endymion, but whom she always meets to sleep. So their great love can not be completed.

The myth of Selene and Endymion is the story of constant and unfulfilled love, perhaps the story of every true love since lovers, full of desire, can’t get enough of each other.

Τhe legend inspired me to design the concept of this scarf for MANTILITY.

I worked with digital media for a more immediate and spontaneous result, with stylistic references to the calligraphy of the linear art of ancient pottery and Byzantine painting that knows how to bring the absent here and to enrich the present with presences.

I chose the transparency of colors that float almost on a surface shaded with scattered umbers to match this artistic result with the tenderness and elusive solidity of the quality of MANTILITY silk.
